Joan is a Filipino-American multidisciplinary artist, choreographer, performer, and storyteller whose work bridges dance, music, and immersive performance. Through original songs and movement, she creates richly layered works that explore narrative, identity, and world building.

Joan is the Associate Choreographer for Matter + Light's ECHO Immersion (in process) after performing with the company since its inception as B. Dunn Movement. She has collaborated with Los Angeles artists and companies including Heidi Duckler Dance, Iris Company, Acts of Matter, and Jay Carlon, with performance credits featuring works by Zoe Scofield, Yuanyuan Wang, Don Martin, Jiří Kylián, and Hans Van Manen.

Her choreographic work spans stage and screen, including assisting Brigette Dunn-Korpela on South Coast Repertory's Alice's Wonderland and developing her original work, Sowing Seeds, at L.A. Dance Project. She has also collaborated with installation artist Isabel Beavers, Grammy Award-winning composer Alex Wand, and composer Jaco Wong of C3LA Choir. Her commercial work includes projects for Starbucks, Athleta, Target, Solange, Ian Asher, and other brands and recording artists.

Alongside her creative practice, Joan teaches ballet and contemporary dance throughout the greater Los Angeles area, serving on the faculty of Los Angeles Music & Arts School and as a teaching artist with Heidi Duckler Dance. She attended Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and Boston Conservatory before earning a BFA in Dance Performance & Choreography from California Institute of the Arts, where she was nominated for the Princess Grace Award.

Outside the studio, Joan serves as Director of Worship Experience at her home church and is the site author and administrator for Matter + Light matterandlight.org, and Free Lunch Company freelunchco.com, an artistic duo exploring human experience through film, installation, and experiential events. She is represented by DDO Artists Agency for print and commercial work.
